Muktinath, situated at an altitude of 3800meters in the mustang district of Nepal, is a sacred pilgrimage site revered not only Hindus and Buddhists it is also those who are adventure lovers, For Hindus, it is known as the “Mukti Kshetra” the place for salvation, and is one of the 108 divya desams (holy abodes of lord Vishnu). Devotees believe that bathing in the 108 icy water spouts (Mukti Dhara) and two holy ponds (Muktikunda and Saraswatikunda) here cleanses sins and offers liberation (Moksha) .Buddhists on the other hand know it as “Chumig Gyatsa” (the hundred springs) and Venerate it as one of the 25 tantric places, where Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) meditated. The temple complex is also unique for its naturally burning internal flame (Jwala Mai temple),a symbol of harmonious coexistence of fire and water. Muktinath is often regarded as one of the four major religious sites of Nepal which is also famous for its Shaligram (Ammonite). Shaligram is the holy stone which according to Hindus hold soul of Lord Vishnu.  Muktinath is one of 108 Vaishnava Shrines which apart from religious significance holds immense potential for its spectacular scenery. Against a backdrop of incredible starkness, you can gaze into the snow covered Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Range as a majestic backdrop to the south and Tibetan plateau towards the north. Therefore, Muktinath offers a profound spiritual and visually stunning experience.
