The temple complex is also unique for its naturally burning internal flame (Jwala Mai temple),a symbol of harmonious coexistence of fire and water. Muktinath is often regarded as one of the four major religious sites of Nepal which is also famous for its Shaligram (Ammonite). Shaligram is the holy stone which according to Hindus hold soul of Lord Vishnu.
